Sterling Pharmaceuticals Ltd is a British-based, research-driven pharmaceutical company accredited by the MHRA (the Executive Agency of the UK Department of Health) for manufacturing and distribution purposes. Our headquarters and manufacturing facility are in Moseley, Birmingham, where we operate with state-of-the-art technology to ensure excellence in production.

Dr Qamar Nawaz

CEO & Director of Quality Assurance

Dr Qamar Nawaz is the CEO and Director of Quality Assurance at Sterling Pharmaceuticals Ltd. With a PhD in Drug Delivery Systems from Aston University, he combines visionary leadership with technical expertise to drive the company’s success.

As a trainee Qualified Person (QP), Dr Nawaz has completed specialized training with David Begg Associates, RSSL, and the Pharmaceutical Training Institute. He is a member of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society, Royal Society of Chemistry, and TOPRA, underscoring his dedication to excellence in pharmaceutical manufacturing and regulation.

Dr Kejun Zhao

Pharmaceutical Chemist & HQC

Dr Kejun Zhao is a pharmaceutical chemist with a PhD in Organic Chemistry. As the Head of Quality Control at Sterling Pharmaceuticals Ltd since its inception, he brings extensive expertise in ensuring product quality and consistency. With a strong focus on the quality of raw materials, sampling, finished product testing, and stability studies, Dr Zhao plays a vital role in upholding the company’s rigorous quality standards.

Dr Geoff Hayhurst 

BDS DO – Partner in Pharmaceutical Innovation

Dr Geoff Hayhurst is a pharmaceutical innovator with extensive experience in product development and quality enhancement. As a long-term partner of Sterling Pharmaceuticals Ltd, he has played a key role in expanding access to high-quality Omega-3 supplements in global markets. His expertise in stabilising essential fatty acids has contributed to the development of scientifically backed, high-purity formulations that support both paediatric and adult health.

Through his collaboration with Sterling Pharmaceuticals, Dr. Hayhurst has helped strengthen the company’s presence in the Middle East, the Indian subcontinent, and key African markets, ensuring the availability of premium healthcare solutions worldwide.

Sola Adeosun

Chartered Accountant & Operations Manager

Sola Adeosun is an MBA-qualified Chartered Accountant with 19 years of experience in the pharmaceutical industry. Having held several senior management positions, he brings a wealth of expertise to Sterling Pharmaceuticals Ltd, where he oversees general operations and administrative functions, including HR, Financial Control, and Customer Services. Sola continues to drive operational excellence at Sterling, ensuring efficiency across all departments under his leadership.

Amar Nawaz

Pharmacist & Strategic Operations Lead

Amar Nawaz is a pharmacist with an MSc in Pharmacovigilance and a key member of the founding team at Sterling Pharmaceuticals Ltd. He brings extensive experience in overseeing the strategic operations of the Production, Packaging, and Supply Chain departments. With a focus on driving growth and operational excellence, Amar continues to make significant contributions to the company’s success, ensuring efficient and innovative processes across all departments under his leadership.

Dr Yan Jiang

CEO & Director of Quality Assurance

Dr Yan Jiang is a highly skilled protein chemist and an alumnus of Warwick University. With over 14 years of experience, Dr Jiang has been instrumental in managing the Production and Packaging teams at Sterling Pharmaceuticals Ltd. A champion of GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) and GDP (Good Distribution Practice), Dr Jiang brings an unwavering focus on quality, ensuring that every decision prioritises the needs of customers and patients.

2007

Sterling Pharmaceuticals Ltd was founded with the mission to provide high-quality pharmaceutical solutions for healthcare providers. 

Company is Founded

Operations Begin

2008

Operations began at our high-specification manufacturing facility in Moseley, Birmingham, setting the stage for future growth.

2010

Launched large-batch contract manufacturing of oral liquids for both UK and export markets.

Expanding Horizons

Expanding Hard-Shell Capsule Manufacturing

2014

Acquired advanced capsuling machines and began large-scale production of hard-shell capsules.

2016

Acquired land from Birmingham City Council to expand manufacturing capabilities and meet growing market demand.

Manufacturing Expansion Milestone

Global Expansion and Increased Capacity

2017

Expanded production capacity to 5,000L per batch and rebranded to focus on international markets, including the Middle East, Asia, and Africa. Formed a dedicated commercial department to internationalise sales and marketing activities, increasing global reach.

2018

 

Established a dedicated research and development facility with cutting-edge testing and product development technologies.
